Three Story County women have been recognized by the Iowa Restaurant Association.

Cande Coulter, owner of Simply Mae’s in Story City; Jenny Oaks, owner of Sweet Oaks Bake Shoppe in Collins; and Susan Frantz, owner and head brewer at Fenceline Beer Lab in Huxley, have been named to the association’s “40 Women to Watch in Hospitality” list.

According to a news release from the association, “the honorees hail from nearly every segment and function in the industry—from purveyors and entrepreneurs to chefs and business development professionals.”

The list showcases “women in Iowa’s hospitality industry who are blazing new trails” and “leading by example,” the release stated.

A celebration for the honorees—who were nominated by customers, peers and managers—will be held at the Iowa Events Center in Des Moines on Nov. 16 during the association’s annual Celebrating Excellence Awards Ceremony.
